UK musician James Alexander Bright was formerly known as Hairy Hands. His album Magic, released via the esteemed New Los Angeles label, was number 18 in my Top 30 Albums of 2016 and his future-funk jam “YNA” was a definite highlight of that same year.
On “Mallorca,” Bright combines textured drums and poignant acoustic guitar pickings, lacing them with vocal melodies that sail calmly over an array of claps, saxophone riffage, and assorted found sounds.
