Diggin’ This: tstewart aka Machinedrum – “Buena” (Mercury KX Records)
Travis Stewart aka Machinedrum dusts off his tstewart alias and gifts us “Buena,“ a liquid, piano-led affirmation that positively glows with all the hope of a brand new day.
Love that bass guitar on the outro, too.
(I’m getting an emotionally resonant vibe from this that is similar to the vibe of “Center Your Love,” one of my very favorite Machinedrum tracks.)
Says Travis, “I began writing the songs for elysian back in 2016 after moving to LA.
I was falling back in love with nature while simultaneously falling back in love with playing the piano and guitar.
“Buena” was one of the first songs I wrote for the album and explores my love for prog, shoegaze, odd time signatures and haunted chords.
When you’re ready, I suggest taking a walk outside while listening to this for the first time.
Or at least close your eyes and imagine the endless beauty of the natural world.”
Done and done.
