Diggin’ This: Genevieve Artadi – “Hot Mess” (Brainfeeder Records)

Very much into this new single from LA vocalist and producer Genevieve Artadi.

“Hot Mess” is a happily melancholic, lighter-than-air, Stereolab-ish experimental pop composition that fuses jazz electronics with cerulean vocal melodies.

Love how from 2:54 to the end of the song the vocals drop out and are replaced by a wordless cosmic transmission (apart from the two-second vocal take placed at the very end!) that would segue effortlessly into one of Thundercat’s more ethereal compositions.

Track of the day.
