One of my favorite remixes last year was “Mumma Don’t Tell” by London’s Leifur James as reworked by DanDigs.com fave FaltyDL. (View the full list of 2019’s Best Remixes here.)
Having greatly enjoyed that remix, I am now greatly enjoying Leifur’s brand new track “Wise Old Man.”
Here James embraces the nocturne nonchalance of early James Blake and Jamie Woon (now there’s a James-themed supergroup) to create an edgy, shuffling, low-lit beat affair complete with siren washes, squiggly synths, and gentle vocals that hang in the air like a glowing street-light in the mist.
