Diggin’ This: Goon – “Flower Bell” (Démodé Recordings)
I first fell in love with the sounds of Goon when I first heard “Garden of Our Neighbor” back in January of this year, which was the first track on their Paint by Numbers, Vol. 1 release.
It instantly got added to my 2022 Essentials playlist, as did their song “Emily Says,” when I first heard it back in July.
Now the Los Angeles quartet have returned with the Red Ladder EP, a “collection of alternate takes, b-sides, and demos” from their latest album, Hour of Green Evening, the best song of which is “Flower Bell,” a stirring and emotional instrumental with rousing cellos and arpeggiated keys, two of my favorite elements in music.
Goon are also supporting DanDigs.com faves Jadu Heart on their upcoming North American tour.
