Metz, France keyboardist and Berklee College of Music alum Domitille Degalle aka DOMi louna met Texas drummer JD Beck at the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) trade show back in 2018.

Beck was previously mentored by percussion artists from the Dallas music scene including the Stanley Clarke Band’s Mike Mitchell and Snarky Puppy’s Robert “Sput” Searight.

After catching the attention of Anderson .Paak via online videos of their performances, the duo went on to co-write “Skate” for Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars’ project, Silk Sonic

Now signed to Anderson .Paak’s Blue Note imprint, today the duo released their latest single, “WHATUP.”

As that gleaming flurry of keys and drums cascaded through my headphones after pressing play on “WHATUP,” I remember thinking that I would love to hear DOMi and JD duet with Thundercat

Lo and behold, I then find out that Thundercat appears not once but twice on their new album, NOT TiGHT, along with Mac DeMarco, Busta Rhymes, and Herbie Hancock!
