Taking cues from city pop, 80s synth pop, and lo-fi bedroom pop (which are clearly all of the best pops), “Neighbor” is an upbeat and carefree beam of auditory sunshine. In Ginger Root‘s own words, it’s “a 1981 soundtrack to the American adaptation of the fictitious Japanese film “街のやつ” (Machi No Yatsu).”
