Diggin’ This: L’Impératrice – “Souffle Au Coeur” (Microqlima Records)

It’s hard to pick a favorite from L’Impératrice‘s new album, but I’m especially drawn to this instrumental “heart murmur” from the Parisian six-piece.
“Souffle Au Coeur” is a dainty and pleasant city pop rhythm that recalls the shinier, slower parts of Daft Punk’s Discovery-era output before morphing, at the sudden introduction of a radio dial being turned, into a harder, better, stronger, but not faster synth bass-heavy stomp.
