Diggin’ This: Cleo Sol – “Rose In the Dark” (Forever Living Originals)

Do you know, do you know, do you know that things get better?

Taking cues from the percussive xylophone chimes of Shuggie Otis’ “Strawberry Letter 23” and the instrumentation of Curtis Mayfield’s delicate soul output, “Rose In the Dark” is my favorite track from UK soul singer Cleo Sol‘s new album.

That rubbery bass from producer Inflo, that spare-and-barely-there wah-wah guitar, and Cleo’s honest and comforting vocals will all leave you both mellowed and moved.

Track of the day.

Cleo Sol – “Rose In the Dark”

“Rose In the Dark” is taken from Cleo Sol‘s brand new album of the same name out now via Forever Living Originals, the same label home as DanDigs.com favorites SAULT, whose album 5 was number 2 in my Top 30 Albums of 2019 list and whose song “Don’t Waste My Time” was my number 1 song of 2019.
