Jeff Parker, perhaps best known for his work with his band Tortoise, is an expert Chicago jazz experimentalist. His latest project, The New Breed, is named after his late father Ernie’s clothing store and features Paul Bryan (Aimee Mann, Meshell Ndegeocello) playing bass guitar in sessions with Chicago ex-pat saxophonist and Thelonious Monk Institute protégé Josh Johnson (Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, Esperanza Spaulding) and drummer Jamire Williams (Robert Glasper, Carlos Niño).

“Executive Life” is a steady grooving instrumental number with Pan-Am luxury horns that beams the good life and summer sunshine directly through your speakers.

Track of the day.
