Diggin’ This: Stephen – “Crossfire”

 

23-year-old Los Angeles artist Stephen combines bleak piano keys, menacing bass throbs, razor-sharp muted guitar stabs, and, yes, what sounds like actual crossfire (0:21) on “Crossfire.”

 

 

 

Despite the melancholy feel throughout, there is a sense of hope that arises from the impassioned chorals towards the end, especially during the song’s final moments when the sole sound of birdsong enters the fray.
