Much like Grimes, NYC’s Honduran-American singer-songwriter-producer Lorely Rodriguez aka Empress Of fuses upbeat melodic experimentalism with a firm DIY sensibility, the results of which always sound brave, fresh, and boundary-defying.

Very much digging that tropical rhythm on the verse that quickly transforms into a quasi-Chicago house beat, complete with a squiggling synth bassline, on the chorus.
