This week we talked to Daniel Johns from Silverchair! We spoke on the phone live from Sydney, Australia and had a chinwag about his new album Talk, what it’s like to switch up musical styles and go from alt-rock to alt-orchestral ballads to alt-r&b, how he leaves the interpretation of a song up to the listener, and whether his next album will be bluegrass or jazz.
We also welcomed one of my favorite music curators Noon Pacific founder Clark Dinnison to the studio to take us through the #SixSongScenario, where artists, DJs, and music aficionados tell the story behind their favorite tracks and explain what these songs mean to them.
Clark and I talked about what music sounds best on road trips on the PCH, how the California coast has influenced his sound, and how A Tribe Called Quest’s “Award Tour” famously name-checked Clark’s hometown: the great city of Spokane, Washington!
