I wasn’t sure if 18-year-old singer Alessia Cara was Canadian, but then it was immediately confirmed when I heard the line “Pardon my manners, I hope you’ll understand it.”

 

 

 

“Here” gloriously samples Portishead’s “Glory Box.”

 

In terms of introspective and unexpected hits from prodigious talent, it’s looking like this latest track from the Toronto singer may be 2015’s answer to Lorde’s “Royals.”
