Diggin’ This: Cleo Sol – “Spirit” (Forever Living Originals)
Veering in more of a 70s soul and gospel direction than her previous work, Cleo Sol‘s latest album, Mother, takes cues from Joni Mitchell and Rotary Connection and fuses the signature sounds of Laurel Canyon and London.

It’s difficult to pick a favorite track from Mother, but “Spirit” is a highlight for me, especially with those reflective piano chords and sweeping strings.
(I’m also loving those tasty beats from producer Inflo that surface near the end of several songs on this project.)
One of the best albums of 2021 for sure.
