Diggin’ This: Tenderlonious ft Yussef Dayes – “Yussef’s Groove” (22a Records)

It’s jazzy.

Tenderlonious, otherwise known as Ed Cawthorne, is a flautist, saxophonist, producer, and DJ, in addition to being the label boss of the forward-thinking 22a Records. He’s released music on pretty much all of my favorite labels: Ninja Tune, Brownswood, and Far Out, to name but a few.

“Yussef’s Groove” is an instant winner led by a winding double bass, piano excursions, organ runs, and Tenderlonious’ own flute flutters, all backed by the mighty 22archestra, many of whom are longtime DanDigs.com favorites:

Ed “Tenderlonious” Cawthorne: flute & synth
Hamish Balfour: keys
Fergus Ireland: bass
Yussef Dayes: drums
Tim Carnegue: drums
Mo Kolours: Percussion
Al Dobson Jr: percussion
Aidan Shepherd: keys
Nick Walters: trumpet
Reginald Omas Mamode IV: percussion
Jeen Bassa: percussion
Konrad: percussion

Track of the day.
