Diggin’ This: Ímã – “Magnolias” (Lewis Recordings)

A slo-mo samba from Saint Augustine.

Breathy and beachy, “Magnolias” is the first song, a chilled MPB-bossa nova creation, from Ímã, a Florida-based duo made up of producer Evan Heinze and singer-songwriter Marina Françolin Borges.

According to the pair, “Magnolias” is a song about hope. All music functions as a transmuter of energy, from lower to higher vibrations. “Magnolias” talks about this explicitly; a soothing voice is calling the listener to follow it towards a peaceful place where magnolias are always in bloom.
