Diggin’ This: Devon Rexi – “Sjikamo” (South of North Records)

 

Dub meets post-punk meets an experimental trip-hop beat.

 

 

 

Nushin Naini (bass, vocals) and Nic Mauskovic (drums, vocals) are the creative force behind Devon Rexi, now expanded to a five-piece with Goya van der Heyden on drums, Lyckle de Jong on synths, and Tobias Jansen on turntables. 

 

 

“Sjikamo” opens the Dutch outfit’s new EP. It’s a percussive groove anchored with dense low-end bass and spiked with Nushin’s scorched vocals.
