“The most exciting time to make music is right now.”

Couldn’t agree more.

Words to live by from LA-via-Baltimore brothers Gabe (otherwise known as Goldwash) and Baird Acheson who have recorded with artists such as Brockhampton and make experimental music together as The South Hill Experiment, named after their studio on South Hill St in Los Angeles.

It’s hard for me to pick a favorite track of theirs, but since I already added the airy disco of “Parker Solar Probe,” which features Jeff Parker no less, to my 2023 Essentials playlist last month, I’m going to go with “Deep Green,” a melodic, pensive, and truly beautiful acoustic folk number.
