New Album By Dan Digs: SUNRAYYS – Glow
My very first LP.
Glow is a lo-fi Losangelican love letter to record stores, 90s UK indie, the beach, Toro y Moi, Primal Scream, Jai Paul, the Beta Band, Beck, Jay Som, the Charlatans, Kings of Convenience, the Isley Brothers, DJ Shadow, UNKLE, David Axelrod, N.E.R.D., Damon Albarn, shoegaze, and you.
Written and recorded in my garage in Los Angeles and my bedroom in Nashville.
SUNRAYYS – Glow
Here’s a bit more about each song.
Lately – I’ve always loved that heavy cello that underpins “The Number Song” on Endtroducing and wanted to create something similar on this chorus.
So You Say – A combination of athletic acoustic guitar and rave pianos.
Stay Gold – Stay true.
Be By You – All the time.
Higher – Dance in slow motion.
Alright Alright – It’s all going to be alright. (Also, I love those fuzzy organ keys that come in after the chorus.)
Won’t You Stay – If Four Tet ever went full indie-folk but kept the beats in the club.
Anywhere Else – I recorded the waves at Playa Del Rey beach on my iPhone in a very strong wind. Then I thought I’d add some meditative drums and bleeps.
Away – “Nursery Rhyme” by UNKLE ft Badly Drawn Boy on the Psyence Fiction album was always a great palate cleanser when listening to the album all the way through. This is my version of that, with added flute on the chorus.
The Only One – Love this percussion that sounds like you’re rattling the cutlery drawer.
So Nearly Home – When you’re just about to get something you’ve wanted and worked towards for so, so, so long. This is that feeling.
Glow is available on Apple Music here and Spotify here and all other music streaming platforms.
