Derek Dumont – “Left the Floor”
Many have covered, reworked, sampled, and cut-and-pasted the Minnie Riperton classic of classics: “Les Fleur.”
Los Angeles-via-Pittsburgh producer Derek Dumont steps up to add his name to that canon by turning in an instrumental cut of pre-summer beats ‘n’ chill that refixes the above experimental soul staple and manages to instantly puts you at ease.
Previously “Left the Floor” was heard on Wiz Khalifa’s Taylor Allderdice mixtape, with rhymes from the Wiz on top. I prefer this version here, though. More room to let the beat breathe.
More Derek Dumont here.
