The New Holidays – ‘Maybe So, Maybe No’

After seeing Mayer Hawthorne croon this live in concert last night, thumbing through the racks of YouTube today uncovered the original version of ‘Maybe So, Maybe No’, recorded in 1969 by The New Holidays for the Soulhawk label. I’m going to pretend I knew this was a cover all along.

I love how the snap, crackle, and pop of pure unfiltered analog audio is so loud on this recording that it almost sounds like a bonafide musical instrument.

On a separate note, for all you expecting parents out there who’ve yet to decide on a name for your newborn, one word for you: Soulhawk.
