With so little dialogue it’s almost a silent movie, Perfect Days, directed by Wim Wenders and starring Kôji Yakusho, Tokio Emoto, and Arisa Nakano, finds the beauty in the everyday by following Hirayama as he cleans public toilets in Tokyo, listens to cassettes, and generally relishes the self-imposed simplicity of his existence.
It’s the most grounding and meditative piece of cinema I’ve seen in a long time.
