The Chemical Brothers – “Life is Sweet” (Daft Punk Remix)

Inspired by this brilliant piece I read today on the life and times of the Chems‘ “Setting Sun,” a song that sounds as vital and compelling now as it did when it shot straight to number one in the UK charts on October 7, 1996, I dove deep into the near-limitless waters of YouTube for a 90s electronic beats sesh.

This remix of the Chemical Brothers’ “Life is Sweet” finds Daft Punk at their very best, meaning that they’re not worried about song structures, disco relevance, heck, even the whole robot thing, and instead bash out a humongous, hypnotic, gritty loop of a tune that sounds like an entire bottle of absinthe being poured into a dot matrix printer.

Daft Punk before they were robots.
